Sparky Turner, Venice Beach Life

Venice, California was originally called "Venice of America," founded by Abbot Kinney in 1905 as a beach resort town. Today, Venice is part of Los Angeles and is known for its canals, beaches, and vibrant Ocean Front Walk. I lived in Venice for the most recent 12 of the my 21 years to date as a Californian. Though born and raised in Britain I am now an American, both literally and in my cultural identity. In particular, I am absolutely a Californian, though my accent remains one of "Received Pronunciation" and so still betrays my English roots. Recently finding myself stranded back in dreary dreadful London I quickly found myself longing to return to the cultured civility of Venice and Los Angeles.
